Tour the exquisite mansion in all of it's Christmas glory as actors in period dress explain the origins of holiday traditions we take for granted. Did you celebration of Christmas was outlawed in America at one time and you could be fined ! George Washington had an eggnog recipe that was so potent that it caused the scandal known as the "eggnog riot" at West Point when Jefferson Davis was a student there. We'll make some for you. Did you know that children were pretty much left out entirely of Christmas celebrations until the mid 1800's? Learn about these and other fascinating facts about Christmas. Then sit down to a sumptuous Victorian holiday feast in the great room surrounded by a roaring fire, candlelight and Christmas decor. From hot wassail to goose pie to turkey to stuffed ham, Yorkshire pudding, mincemeat and plum pudding, we will enjoy the best of traditional fare. Then relax over dessert while actors read excerpts from the work of Charles Dickens and the book Moll Flanders.
